About This Place

Nestled along US-301 South in Wilson, NC, The Beefmastor Inn stands as a testament to the power of simplicity done right. This beloved steak house has perfected the art of serving one thing exceptionally well: ribeye steak. With no extensive menu to overwhelm you, The Beefmastor Inn invites guests to indulge in an uncomplicated yet deeply satisfying dining experience centered around hearty, perfectly cooked steaks paired with classic Southern sides.

The moment you settle into one of their unpretentious booths, you sense a focus on authenticity—both in atmosphere and flavor. The rustic, no-frills environment complements the down-to-earth menu, offering a comforting backdrop for savoring robust, juicy steaks that boast rich, buttery textures and deep charred flavors. Customers rave about their signature 10 oz and 14 oz ribeye steaks, cooked just the way you like—each bite tender and bursting with grilled goodness. These are not just steaks; they are the heart and soul of the kitchen.

Complementing the star dish is a hearty baked potato, often topped with melted butter and accompanied by a fresh garden salad from the well-stocked salad bar. The salad bar itself is a bright and crisp counterpoint to the richness of the steak and potatoes, providing balance and freshness to the meal. Not to be overlooked is the baked sweet onion—a subtle but flavorful side that adds a sweet, caramelized depth to the plate.

The Beefmastor Inn’s charm lies in its consistency and the heartfelt service. The staff’s attention is genuine, guiding you through your steak size and cooking preference with a personal touch that makes every visit feel like a special occasion.

Regulars and first-timers alike attest to the straightforward joy of their meal here. Max Negin captures it simply: “One of the best steaks I have ever had… The fancy part is the flavor of the steak and solid baked potato.” Vincent P. Colandrea II even compares the flavors favorably against Texas BBQ, highlighting the distinctive prowess behind the kitchen’s grill. Such accolades underscore the pride and precision poured into every dish.

For those who appreciate a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere paired with expertly grilled steaks and classic accompaniments, The Beefmastor Inn is Wilson’s hidden treasure. Went here once or twice with my dad 20 or so years ago. The taste and level of service has not changed since then. I happened to be in the area today and stopped in with two others. This is a "no frills, no nonsense" locally owned and operated steak house. There is no menu, all they have is ribeye steak, baked potato, salad bar and a "baked onion" on request. They stick with what they've got because it works. This place is built and setup for great service, great tasting food and good table turnover. It is a smal place, with only 9 tables inside. The cook comes to your table with a cutting board and a whole ribeye. Their steaks start at 8 Oz and go up from there. He cuts it right at your table and then goes to grill to season and start cooking. Their salad bar may be small, but has plenty of items to make a great salad. There's no 20 foot long salad bar here with bright lights showing everything off. Your best option here, if you really are a steak eater is medium rare or medium. Anything over that, and you're wasting your and the cooks time. There were 2 servers working in tandem taking care of the customers. The service was friendly and quick. The servers aren't here to mess around. They're not here to be your friend or to flirt with anyone. They're short quick and to the point. To those looking for the big chain, "have you dined with us before? Then welcome back" type bouncy bubbly servers, this is not your type of place, please go elsewhere for your steak needs. If you're looking for fancy dining like you get in the expensive steak houses up north and in the big cities, don't come here. Their beef is locally sourced and has been for as long as I can remember. Their beer is cold, the steaks are hot and fresh, and for what it is, it cannot get any better. Ribeye is not my cut of choice, but I'll say I ate a "10 oz" and wanted more. If you want a cheap "steak" look elsewhere. This place has something that works and it works well for them and their customers.

My parents and I ate here Thursday, January 30. I have eaten here several times and I am never disappointed. From the moment we stepped in the door we were greeted and went to our table. Immediately the staff was there to take our drink order. The gentleman then came with the loin of beef to ask us what size steak we wanted and how we wanted it cooked. Then we went to the salad bar to get our salad. They had a plethora of items for your salad. It was all fresh and delicious. We finished our salad and by that time our steak, bake potato, and bread was served to us. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and a nice hot bake potato still steaming. The waiter did an impeccable job keeping beverage glasses filled the entire meal. Beefmaster you have never disappointed me. Also congrats being named by Southern Living as one of the best steak restaurants in the south! It is well deserved. I prefer this restaurant over the Angus Barn in Raleigh.

One of the best steaks I have ever had. Simple place, and that’s a huge compliment. Just solid, great food, nice little salad bar. The fancy part is the flavor of the steak and solid baked potato and. Nice grilled Texas toast. Just wonderful. Will definitely return.

I've eaten in a lot of Carolina barbecue places, I've always been nervous in regards to what type of sauce or taste I was going to get. Stopping here was the best decision I made all day. It's not every day you can find a steak that can hold its own against Texas BBQ which I consider to be the best in the country! However this place can. The service was outstanding & I had no wate time whatsoever, (seated within 5 minutes of my arrival). The steak was some of the best I've seen in North Carolina, and the grill Master cooked and handled each steak like it was for his own family. This man should enroll in the Kingsford BBQ Grill Master contest and win it all. The salad bar was incredible with fresh cut vegetables that morning, stacked and supplied without fail, never ran low. The drinks were ice cold and just in time. I can't wait for my next visit. I'll be bringing some friends. Thanks for a "Great" 1st. Time experience ~V.

This a hidden gem, the place does not look like much. No upscale decor or fancy tables or facilities . Just a local welcoming little place. The servers and staff are very nice and makes you feel welcomed. Their food is really fresh and cooked to your likeness. There is only one menu item, so they have prefected it, Ribeye! They bring to the table the whole piece and ask for how big you want your steak to be and the temperature you want it to be cooked. The salad bar is nothing fancy but works well for everyone. They are constantly restocking the salad bar. And it appears that everyone enjoys their meal. I got the impression that it was a favorite of many locals. They'll be in groups outside like in a tailgating event just waiting for their table. Playing corn hole or drinking in the parking lot while waiting for a table. I don't believe they have reservations, more like first come, first served. It was a nice experience having your raw steak brought to the table, see it being cooked and then eat it. Couldn't get better than that specially because you know how long your food is going to take to be brought. I would recommend this place to my friends and family, what can go wrong with steak and a bake potato?

When they bring to your table the whole piece of rib eye for you too choose how big you want your steak to be, you know right then and there that it would be a great dining experience.. Our steak was cooked to perfection, their salad bar was super. Fresh. They kept restocking the items, they bake potatoes are not dry and they garlic bread was delicious! You only need to pick how big your steak will be. There is only one menu item, so you know they have mastered the cooking time and temperature accordingly to their customer's likeness. Small place, clean and once it's full it takes about one hour and fifteen minutes to seat the next group. In the meantime people play corn hole outside, do some drinking or snacking, kinds of tailgating while they get a table. They do offer liquour and alcoholic beverages. So either you stick to water or a drink, it won't matter because their steak is so juice and tender that you'll forget anything else. Not a formal dinning place, not a romantic one but yes a family and inviting place to come. We traveled a little over an hour to try their food. We weren't disappointed. We had a great experience. The one item menu cost starts at $50.00 and from there on depending on how big you want your steak to be.

Stopped in for dinner during a business trip. Got immediately seated and started the dinner. Everything comes with your steak; drink (sweet tea), unlimited salad and a baked potato. Picked the width of my steak and ordered medium rare. Got a salad; lot of items to put in your salad. Remember that some of those items (bacon and cheese) can be put on your baked potato. Got the steak, baked potato and toasted bread. Steak seasoned and cooked perfectly. The four stars is due to the toast being burnt black. Also wish they had chopped chives or green onions at the salad bar to put on the baked potato.

Our family of five—my husband and our three kids—had dinner here, and I can honestly say it was a perfect experience from start to finish. I ate my steak without any steak sauce, which says everything. It was tender, juicy, and truly melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The salad bar was top-tier and fresh, the atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the service was outstanding. Chad, the owner, is one of the friendliest and most genuine people you’ll meet, and his staff was just as superb. We couldn’t have asked for a better dining experience and will absolutely be back.
